Exporting and Deleting Your Data
You have full control over your data. Here's how to export or delete it.
Data Export
What's Included
Export includes:
- Profile information
- All documents you've uploaded
- Generated summaries
- Question sets and responses
- Flashcard decks
- Chat history
- Learning analytics
How to Export
- Go to Settings > Privacy
- Click "Export My Data"
- Select data categories (or all)
- Click "Generate Export"
- Download when ready (usually within 1 hour)
Export Format
Data provided as:
- JSON for structured data
- Original format for documents
- ZIP archive containing all files
Data Deletion
Delete Specific Content
Remove individual items:
- Documents: Click delete in library
- Question sets: Delete from saved sets
- Chats: Delete conversations
- Flashcards: Remove decks
Full Account Deletion
What Happens
- All personal data removed
- Content permanently deleted
- Cannot be undone
- Login disabled
How to Delete Account
- Export data first (recommended)
- Go to Settings > Privacy
- Click "Delete Account"
- Enter password to confirm
- Account queued for deletion
Deletion Timeline
- Immediate: Login disabled
- 30 days: Data permanently erased
- During grace period: Contact support to cancel
Institutional Users
Data Ownership
For institution accounts:
- Institution may own some data
- Check with your administrator
- Some data may be retained for records
Educator Data
When educators leave:
- Course content may transfer
- Student records retained by institution
- Personal data can be deleted
Student Data
Students can request:
- Copy of their data
- Correction of errors
- Deletion (subject to retention policies)
Data Retention
Active Accounts
- Data retained while account active
- Unused data may be archived after 2 years
- Archived data remains accessible
After Deletion
- 30-day grace period
- Backups purged within 90 days
- Aggregate analytics retained (anonymized)
